FAQ

Q1:What is a standard fusion splice protection sleeve?

A standard fusion splice protection sleeve is a heat-shrinkable tube designed to protect fusion splice joints of single optical fibers up to 900 μm. It provides mechanical reinforcement and environmental sealing to ensure long-term splice reliability.

Q2:What fiber size is the ABL-SD Series designed for?

The ABL-SD Series is specifically designed for single optical fibers up to 900 μm, making it suitable for most standard fiber optic fusion splicing applications.

Q3:What is the difference between the 1.0 mm, 1.2 mm and 1.5 mm strength members?

The difference is the diameter of the stainless steel reinforcing rod. Different splice trays and installation environments require different rod sizes to achieve the best mechanical protection and compatibility.

Q4:Which sleeve length should I choose?

The ABL-SD Series is available in 40 mm, 45 mm and 60 mm lengths. The correct length depends on the splice tray or fiber enclosure being used. Please refer to your equipment specifications or contact Abalone for recommendations.

Q5:Are these sleeves compatible with all fusion splicing machines?

Yes. The ABL-SD Series is compatible with most standard fiber optic fusion splicers and splice trays used in FTTH, FTTx, telecommunications and data center applications.

Q6:Can Abalone provide customized fusion splice protection sleeves?

Yes. Abalone offers OEM and ODM services including customized dimensions, strength member diameters, packaging, labeling and private branding to meet different project requirements.
