Attenuator

Abalone has a wide variety of single mode (SM), multimode (MM), or polarization-maintaining (PM) variable optical attenuators (VOAs). Attenuators are installed in fiber optic systems to keep the power level within the limits of the receiver’s detector.

When the optical power is too high at the receiver, the signal can saturate the detector resulting in a non-communicating port.
